ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- MobileHelp®, a leader in mobile Personal Emergency Response Systems (mPERS) and healthcare technology, is expanding its wearable emergency response portfolio through integration with the new Samsung Galaxy Watch, augmenting its current offering with additional stylish form factors.
Available in two size options – the original 46mm and a new 42 mm for users with smaller wrists – and in three style options – Silver, Midnight Black and Rose Gold – MobileHelp Smart makes it easy for anyone wearing the device to get help in an emergency situation. It also allows the user to take advantage of Samsung Health fitness-monitoring features, such as heart rate, sleep, steps and other activities, with an enhanced battery life to minimize device charging.
When a user presses the "Help" button on the MobileHelp Smart interface, trained operators receive the call for assistance and know who the user is, where they are located and can contact them through the watch to determine the scope of the emergency and provide the right level of response.
Though MobileHelp currently provides its medical alert solutions primarily to seniors, the company is aiming to reach a broader set of audiences – from patients with chronic illnesses who want to better monitor their health to those who simply want to be able to access emergency help while out living their lives.
"Since introducing this new wearable solution in early 2018, we've found it represents an emergency response option for a much wider range of people," said Rob Flippo, CEO of MobileHelp. "We hope the smaller size and increased style options will broaden accessibility even further, to provide consumers such as women exercising outside at night or kids walking home from school with an additional safety net – the peace of mind that comes from knowing help is just a button press away."
According to Parks Associates' research, there are currently a little over three million users of personal emergency response products and services in the United States, mostly in older households.
"Cellular-equipped wearables in stylish form factors with health monitoring functionality have the potential of vastly increasing the appeal of PERS solutions not just for the senior population, but for previously untapped markets as well," said Kristen Hanich, Research Analyst, Parks Associates.
MobileHelp Smart on Galaxy Watch will be available late in Q2 2019. More information on the MobileHelp Smart solution can be found online.
