CHICAGO, June 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today, more than 2,000 Harris and BMO Capital Markets employees will read, plant, paint, teach, organize, clean and otherwise volunteer their way to stronger communities -- in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, New York, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin -- through the company's 4th annual Employee Volunteer Day. The effort includes planned projects in the bank's new markets of Rockford, Ill. and Madison, Wis.
"More than 70 projects across the nation will come alive today with the spirit and energy of our employee volunteers," said Judy Rice, senior vice president of Community Affairs and Economic Development. "Employee Volunteer Day has become an embodiment of our customer-focused culture. This type of commitment to our communities is one of the things I love about Harris and a key reason I joined the bank."
Harris and BMO Capital Markets' Employee Volunteer Day was established in 2007 and participation has since grown steadily, with 1,600 employees taking part in 2009. Today, the event complements an array of philanthropic work, including financial education seminars, charitable grants, nonprofit partnerships, and the annual United Way campaign, which will be led this year by Harris President and CEO Ellen Costello in Metropolitan Chicago.
