MOUSE Elects Harold Levy, Caroline McCarthy and Carole Wacey To Its Board of Directors

New Board Members Bring Extensive Experience and Insight in Education, Communications and Youth Development to MOUSE

NEW YORK, Jan. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- MOUSE, a national nonprofit organization that empowers and inspires underserved youth with technology, is honored to announce that Harold Levy, Caroline McCarthy and Carole Wacey have been elected to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Levy served as New York City Schools Chancellor from 2000 to 2002. Presently, he is a Managing Director at Palm Ventures, where he concentrates on growing businesses that have a positive and transformative impact on society, including investments in education, regulated industries and allied fields.  He has extensive management and acquisition experience in education and finance.

Previously, Mr. Levy was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Kaplan, Inc., Director of Global Compliance of Citigroup, Head of Litigation of Salomon Brothers and Managing Director of Plainfield Asset Management.  He is a trustee of Pace University and member of the Roosevelt Institute, the National Dropout Prevention Board, the American College of Greece Board and the Presidential Advisory Committee of Teachers College, Columbia University. 

Caroline McCarthy is Social Media Marketing Manager at Google, working with top brands, agencies and industry events.  She has managed strategic relationships between Google and the social media industry, and was managing editor of Think Quarterly, Google's compendium of insights and digital trends for the marketplace.

Previously, Ms. McCarthy was a journalist for CNET.com, a division of CBS, where she covered entrepreneurship, innovation, digital media and social networking in New York and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Carole Wacey was recently named Vice President of Education for WNET, where she will further the partnership of public media and education, and help shape the future of WNET to meet the needs of the education community. 

Ms. Wacey served as the Executive Director at MOUSE from 2003 through 2012.  During this exciting time of growth for MOUSE, she provided exceptional leadership, developed new strategic partnerships and expanded the impact of MOUSE programs across the country.  She will continue to lend her strong support of MOUSE as a newly elected member of its Board.

Prior to joining MOUSE, Ms. Wacey was Director of the Interactive Media for Children program at the Markle Foundation, and Deputy Director of the Office of Education Technology and Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of Education.
