NASA Astronaut Dr. Yvonne Cagle to Deliver Keynote Address at MetricStream GRC Summit 2014

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Yvonne Cagle, NASA astronaut and doctor, will deliver a closing keynote address at the MetricStream GRC Summit 2014 which is being held from April 29 – May 1, 2014 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Cagle will join a distinguished line-up of keynote speakers, including Secretary William S. Cohen, the 20th U.S. Secretary of Defense, CEO of The Cohen Group, and Board Director at CBS Corporation, along with Bernard J. Tyson, Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente and Gunjan Sinha, Executive Chairman at MetricStream.

In her keynote address, Dr. Cagle will discuss the importance of risk management and effective leadership, based on her background in science and medicine. Dr. Cagle is known around the world for her ground-breaking work in preserving NASA's space legacy data, while galvanizing NASA's initiatives in global mapping, sustainable energies, green initiatives, and disaster preparedness. Dr. Cagle is also a doctor in medicine and a certified flight surgeon.

From 1994-1996, Dr. Cagle served as a physician in the NASA Johnson Space Center Occupational Health Clinic, before being selected to the NASA Astronaut Corp where she qualified for a flight assignment as a mission specialist. In 2005, she was assigned to the NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) as the lead ARC Astronaut Science Liaison and Strategic Relationships Manager for Google and other Silicon Valley Programmatic Partnerships. In 2008, she retired as Colonel in the United States Air Force (USAF). In 2012, Dr. Cagle was a speaker for TEDx in Brussels and served as a member of the Singularity University Space Faculty from 2010-2012. She is currently on NASA Detail as a Visiting Professor at Fordham University, New York.
