NATEL Announces Quality Turnaround At Carlsbad, CA, Facility

CHATSWORTH, Calif., March 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NATEL EMS announces major improvements in quality and performance at its Carlsbad, California, location, now known as NATEL's Ceramics Center of Excellence. "This significant turnaround is a result of implementing the NBS system among both manufacturing and transactional teams," announced President/CEO Sudesh Arora.

"At NATEL's Ceramics Center of Excellence, we hired leadership who focused on the right aspects of lean manufacturing," Arora said. "We focused on producing high reliability substrates while constantly eliminating waste at its roots."

This lean manufacturing conversion increased on-time delivery of Thick Film products from 90% in 2012 to 100% in 2013. Output per direct labor improved by 30%, and yields increased from the low 80% up to 90%, the highest quality measurements the facility has attained in its history of operations. Additionally, the company saw throughput increase while cutting raw material inventory by 25% and work in process by 50%.

NATEL's Ceramics Center of Excellence is a 60,000 sq. ft. electronics manufacturing facility that employs about 60 people. Operations include low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) and high-temperature co-fired ceramic (HTCC) board fabrication, AlN, Thick Film and Thin Film Substrates. The facility is located at 6350 Palomar Oaks Court, Carlsbad, CA, 92011.
