WASHINGTON, Oct. 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Press Club will host a Headliners screening of "The Day Iceland Stood Still" on Wednesday, October 8 at 6:00 p.m. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on gender equality with acclaimed filmmakers Pamela Hogan and Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir joined by Iceland's Ambassador to the United States Svanhildur Hólm Valsdóttir.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with opening remarks at 6:00 p.m. followed by the panel discussion at 7:30 p.m. Purchase tickets to attend here.
Fifty years ago, on October 24, 1975, the women of Iceland went on strike, refusing to work, cook, do the housekeeping or take care of the children. "The Day Iceland Stood Still" tells the story of the 24 hours that sparked a revolution in gender equity that changed Iceland forever.
