Nationwide Coin & Bullion Reserve announces an exclusive partnership with famous coin sculptor Don Everhart
HOUSTON, Oct. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- America's renowned coin designers and sculptors are commonly recognized later in life, often posthumously. Don Everhart is the exception. Everhart was a well-known sculptor by his early forties. Everhart's career took off in 1994 when he was named American Numismatic Association Sculptor of the Year. In 1997, President Clinton handpicked Everhart's design for his second Inaugural Medal.
Career
During his twenty plus year numismatic sculpting career, he has amassed a body of work that rivals' other greats including Augustus Saint-Gaudens, James Earle Fraser and John Mercanti.
Since then, and over the last 20 years, Everhart has been the "face" of the U.S. Mint as an artist and a marketer. As the U.S. Mint's lead sculptor from 2004 to 2017, Everhart's artistic influence and integrity are etched in many of America's most prized numismatic coins.
Famous works
His most famous works include six Congressional Medals, six Silver Statehood Quarters and several First Spouse coins. And while most recognized for his precious metal works, Everhart's name transcends precious metals. In fact, if you inspected your pocket change, up to half of it was created by Everhart and would bear his initials, D.E. Everhart has also been the driving force behind the U.S. Mint's programs aimed at increasing coin awareness and interest, creating a new and burgeoning U.S. coin collectible market.
In 2017, Everhart retired from the U.S. Mint. But his influence on American coinage wasn't done yet. The Numismatic Guarantee Corporation (NGC), one of the two top U.S. grading companies, gave Everhart the ultimate challenge: to endorse a coin series that embodied perfection and would bear his signature, and select a precious metals firm worthy of their exclusive distribution.
More to come
Later this month Nationwide Coins will begin filming and showing a series of commercials and web videos about Don Everhart's exclusive signature series coins. Some of these coins have populations of two hundred or less.
