WASHINGTON, Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Nava is excited to share our 2026 Public Benefit Report: Evolving the country's digital ecosystem. This year's report underscores why government works better for people when agencies own and control their technology, and when one agency's work strengthens the next. Nava is building towards this with more urgency than ever.
Nava is a public benefit corporation on a mission to make government services work better for the people they're meant to serve. Federal, state, and local government agencies across the country have trusted Nava to modernize critical public services over the last decade.
"We publish our Public Benefit Report annually to demonstrate how we're stacking up against our mission," said Sha Hwang, Nava's Chief Operating Officer and co-founder. "We're covering a lot, but ultimately the report can only capture a small sliver of the full impact across the company to support agencies delivering critical programs."
In 2026, Nava delivered human-centered outcomes at all levels of scale, in a broad spread of contexts, across varying degrees of urgency. In Pennsylvania, tools we shipped within five months of H.R. 1 becoming law cut illegible submissions by 80%, so fewer people lose food assistance over a paperwork error. We helped Minnesota launch one of the most-utilized paid leave programs in the country, on time and under budget — a program the state now controls. And we continued building Simpler.Grants.gov with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in the open, prioritizing transparent and collaborative design that the agency can fully maintain.
Nava also helped agencies responsibly implement AI solutions through rigorous testing, user research, and small, scalable pilots, piloting solutions with state and federal agencies and nonprofit partners through Nava Labs.
"While our country's digital ecosystem remains fragile and fragmented, the work Nava does shows what's possible when vendors help make government more capable, not more dependent," said Rohan Bhobe, Nava's Chief Executive Officer and co-founder. "There's still so much work ahead and setting the standard starts with us."
Nava will continue to work toward this open digital ecosystem, project-by-project, leaving government stronger, more resilient than before. To help advance this vision, we've set a goal that by 2030 at least half of our new work will include meaningful open source components or contributions. Along the way, we'll continue advocating for reform in government contracting to promote efficiency, strong internal government capacity, and vendor accountability.
