Navarro Joins BevMo! As New SVP of Operations
West Coast Beverage Retailer Taps Former Staples and Dick's Executive To Oversee Store Operations
CONCORD, Calif., June 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In its latest move aimed at further enhancing the shopping experience for customers, BevMo! has named retailing veteran Matt Navarro to oversee operations for the 165-store chain, it was announced today by Dimitri Haloulos, CEO of the California-based beverage retailer.
As the senior vice president of operations for the company, Navarro will be responsible for all store operations, customer service and loss prevention. In this role, he will be tasked with elevating BevMo!'s in-store shopping experience, including driving customer loyalty, enhancing its service model and strengthening employee development programs.
Navarro joins BevMo! from Dick's Sporting Goods, where he served as regional vice president since 2015. In that role he was responsible for the retailer's West Coast operations. Prior to that, he spent more than 16 years at Staples, starting as a district manager in 1998, and rising to the position of regional vice president in 2009. While at Staples, Navarro achieved a number of corporate awards, including the Chairman Award for customer service for three consecutive years.

As regional vice president at Staples, Navarro oversaw district managers and regional support staff covering California, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico and West Texas. His ability to foster leadership roles for team members resulted in eight of his general managers being elevated to critical field positions within the company. And under his direction, his western region garnered a number of top annual rankings within the company for key sales and growth initiatives.
The California native began his career in retailing at Consolidated Stores, where he was a store manager in Los Angeles and a district manager in San Francisco/Oakland. Navarro is an executive board member for the American Diabetes Association in San Jose, and a former board member of Work2Future, which addresses the workforce and economic development needs throughout San Jose.
