NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth Partners With NBCUniversal Foundation To Award Grants Totaling $100,000 To Local Non-profits

DALLAS and FORT WORTH, Texas, July 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- NBC 5 / KXAS-TV is partnering with the NBCUniversal Foundation to launch its second annual 21^st Century Solutions program, a grant challenge for local non-profit organizations implementing new and innovative programs.

21^st Century Solutions supports initiatives designed to address emerging and ongoing community challenges in new and creative ways.  By focusing on social innovation, the program hopes to encourage non-profit organizations that address these pressing matters with fresh perspectives.

The competitive grant program is open to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations that are implementing progressive programs that address emerging or ongoing community challenges in the areas of Civic Engagement, Education, Environment, Jobs and Economic Empowerment, Media Arts and Technology.  NBC 5's goal is to highlight organizations addressing community issues in new and creative ways.

Interested organizations wishing to compete in the grant challenge can review the eligibility criteria and complete an application at www.NBCDFW.com by July 31, 2013.  Three North Texas organizations will win grants totaling $100,000 to be announced by the end of the year.
