NC State Jenkins MBA Launches Online MBA Program

RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 5, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The NC State Jenkins MBA program (http://mgt.ncsu.edu/mba/) has announced the creation of an online MBA program, scheduled to launch in fall 2011. Through the online program, students will complete their degrees in two years, with the same academic requirements as the working professional's degree offered at both the main and the Research Triangle Park campuses. Fifteen faculty members will deliver instruction for the online MBA program, all of whom teach on the main and RTP campuses. The online degree will consist of 45 credit hours, and cost $30,600 for in-state students and $58,230 for out-of-state students. By offering an AACSB-accredited online MBA program, Jenkins expects to attract "road warriors" who travel often; "transients" who are likely to be transferred due to their jobs; members of the military; international students; stay-at-home mothers or fathers; and tech-savvy students who prefer an online method that utilizes technology as part of the instructional process.  

As a core strength of the Jenkins MBA program, and NC State University as a whole, technology will be a primary focus through the online MBA program. The Jenkins MBA program offers a comprehensive curriculum that focuses on emerging technologies and how to best evaluate, develop and pursue them, creating an innovative and intellectual environment with a focus on leadership and management in a technology-rich, global marketplace. With a remote campus in RTP, the Jenkins MBA program has connections to the area's top technology-related companies and organizations, and offers the advantage of proximity.

The majority of the online MBA instruction will be offered through NC State's Distance Education & Learning Technology Partners (DELTA), using mostly asynchronous methods, including podcasts linked with PowerPoint, tools such as Camtasia and Elluminate, streaming video files, and online discussion boards.
