Needle-free Injection Linked to Increasing Workplace Flu Shot Compliance

GOLDEN, Colo., June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- PharmaJet® Inc., the maker of needle-free injection technology, announced today that ONdrugDelivery published their study, entitled Needle-free Injection in Workplace Influenza Clinics, in its May issue.
Influenza is one of the most preventable infectious diseases, and company-hosted flu clinics are an effective way to make getting a flu shot easy and convenient for employees. Despite the benefits of vaccination, only about 20% of healthy working adults aged 18-49 years receive an annual flu shot1. According to the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the annual costs associated with sick days and lost productivity are approximately $7 billion1,2. Based on these numbers, it is clear there is an unmet need for increasing vaccination rates in the workplace.
Last flu season, the PharmaJet Stratis® Needle-free Injection System was used in multiple workplace influenza clinics, including BP Oil, Cargill, Denver International Airport, Ernst & Young, Morgan Stanley, Terumo BCT, TriNet and Xerox. Surveys were completed by patients, caregivers, and event coordinators to get feedback on their experience with the needle-free device, and its impact on immunization rates. Over 90% of patients and healthcare providers were satisfied with the needle-free shot3. Additionally, 33% of providers thought having a needle-free option would increase immunization coverage in their workplace immunization programs3.
