New Capital Blue health and wellness store to celebrate opening with free community health fair July 15

HARRISBURG, Pa., July 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Capital BlueCross is celebrating the opening of another health and wellness store with a free "Fit, Fun & Sun" community health fair. Kicking off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and featuring a variety of fun and healthy activities for children and adults of all ages, the event will be held Wednesday, July 15, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the new Capital Blue store at Hampden Marketplace in Hampden Township.

Capital Blue, a store unlike any other, is a one-stop shop for in-person service, health and nutrition consultations, fitness classes, access to innovative health care technology and healthy eating for today's busy lifestyles. Additionally, the store features free Wi-Fi and its much heralded Kids Zone, where children can enjoy iPads with health-related games and more. Everyone is welcome at Capital Blue, whether a Capital BlueCross cardholder or not.

During the health fair, children can meet Parent's Choice Award-winning recording artist Jim Rule and local children's book author Floyd Stokes, and enjoy a visit from Harrisburg Senators mascot, Rascal. Attendees can also have their face painted, watch a fitness demonstration, enjoy a back or neck massage, learn about proper nutrition, and get body mass index (BMI) and Derma Scan screenings. Parents and guardians can get a free Amber Alert certified CD for each of their children from Community Partners 4 Kids.

Capital BlueCross also will showcase Theranos, a consumer health care technology company that will provide its revolutionary laboratory services in the new Capital Blue store. Theranos' lab testing technology often requires only a few drops of blood and provides near immediate results.

Plenty of free refreshments will be provided during the health fair by Healthy You Café at Capital Blue, the store's full-service in-store café. Owned by local catering entrepreneur Michele Reber, the café offers a menu of fresh food and beverages made from organic and locally sourced ingredients. The café also offers gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options, and fresh-made items that can be ordered to go.

The Capital Blue store in the Hampden Marketplace shopping development is Capital BlueCross' second retail location. The first Capital Blue store opened in 2012 at The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley, a shopping destination in the Lehigh Valley, and is serving more than 25,000 visitors a year.
