Highlighting the evolving security threats to Unified Communication (UC) and voice systems, the session will show enterprise communications professionals how to defend their systems against malicious attacks.

Security risks to UC and voice systems continue to escalate as the tools and techniques available to the attacker become more complex. This unique session will give attendees a close-up look at some of the hackers' most destructive toolkits for attacking communications systems--including smartphone botnets used for Telephony Denial of Service (TDoS) and robocalls, as well as more damaging attacks that can disable key infrastructure components such as Session Border Controllers (SBCs).
The panelists for the session will be:
Weston Hecker - Network/Security Engineer and Hacker for High Point Networks, LLC
Weston Hecker brings with him 11 years of experience in penetration testing as well as 12 years in security research and programming. In addition to co-authoring SkimBad, an anti-malware framework, Weston has discovered several vulnerabilities in software and firmware – including Microsoft, Qualcomm, Samsung, HTC and Verizon. He is currently working with a major University on a research project with Department of Homeland Security, focused on 911 emergency systems and attack mitigation. As part of this project, Weston is converting an Eastern European-origin Telephony Denial of Service (TDoS) botnet tool to English and researching various attacks on SBCs. He is a frequent speaker, including recent presentations at Defcon 22 and 23 and over 40 other speaking engagements.
Mark D. Collier - CTO for SecureLogix Corp
Mark D. Collier manages SecureLogix's technology roadmap, works with strategic customers, performs security research, monitors for new threats and architects their new security solution. He has been working in the software industry for more than 20 years and has led multiple research efforts in the area of voice, VoIP and UC security. Mark has developed a number of SIP attack tools as part of his research and in support of his books, Hacking Exposed: VoIP and Hacking Exposed: UC and VoIP. He is currently working with the Department of Homeland Security on multiple research projects focused on complex TDoS attacks and other security issues in critical environments such as Next Generation 911 centers.
The General Session Inside the Mind of a Voice Hacker: The Evolution of Enterprise Voice Threats will take place on Wednesday, March 9, 11:30am – 12:00pm.
