New Oakville Hospital to receive a gift that keeps giving

Local EPCM firm will install state-of-the-art solar power system

OAKVILLE, ON, Dec. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ - Hatch and Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) have recently announced a gift agreement for Hatch's donation of a photovoltaic solar array power system to the New Oakville Hospital. Power generated and sold through the state-of- the-art rooftop solar array will help fund the Hospital Foundation through the Ontario Power Authority's Feed In-Tariff (FIT) program.

After two years of design work and planning, Hatch, a Canadian-owned and globally operating engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) firm, anticipates construction of the 500 KW solar array to begin in 2015. The elevated array, located on the parking garage roof top, has been designed by Hatch to be architecturally unique with best-in-class energy components, manufactured exclusively in Ontario and offering the highest efficiency ratings.

The gift from Hatch, valued at approximately three million dollars, consists of capital expenditure plus full design of the structure and modules, as well as procurement, permitting, construction, commissioning, and finally handover to HHS. The FIT contract, developed by Hatch with the Ontario Power Authority and in partnership with Oakville Hydro and Hydro One, will provide the Hospital Foundation with revenue of five million dollars over a 20-year period.

The Hospital Foundation partners with the community to fund essential medical equipment for Oakville's Hospital in order to enable high quality patient care. The Foundation is currently in the midst of a $60 million fundraising campaign in support of the New Oakville Hospital.
