HAMILTON, Bermuda, Nov. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) is pleased to share that the Atlantic's most charming island will soon be even more accessible when American Airlines increases its flight schedule from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Bermuda's L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA), beginning February 11, 2016. American's addition of six flights per week increases Bermuda's total weekly flights from North America by 13 percent. Conveniently located less than three hours from most major East Coast cities, Bermuda offers visitors an easy getaway full of rich cultural experiences and plenty of proper fun.
"This additional air service signals the growing confidence in Bermuda as a year-round destination. The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) is thrilled to have worked with American Airlines to demonstrate the incredible appeal of the island for all seasons – from whale watching and kite-surfing to sailing, cycling and diving," said Bill Hanbury, CEO of the BTA. "We know how important it is for our travelers to have consistent, year-round access and our partnership with American Airlines furthers this goal."
Currently, there are also direct flight options to Bermuda from JFK and Miami International Airport (MIA) on American Airlines; JFK, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Boston – Logan International Airport (BOS) from Delta Airlines; JFK on JetBlue; Newark International Airport (EWR) on United Airlines; as well as the Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) from WestJet and Air Canada. Additional seasonal service includes flights from Philadelphia (PHL), Charlotte (CLT) and Reagan National (DCA) on American as well as flights from Boston (BOS) on JetBlue.
Once in Bermuda, visitors will find championship golf greens, a vast array of watersports, legendary pink sand beaches and a wealth of historic sites they will want to return to time and time again. This announcement also comes on the heels of a highly successful Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series Event held earlier in October. Only in Bermuda is an atmosphere that combines British charm with island soul in year-round mild temperatures.
