U.S. Bank and Premier Lacrosse League brought youth showcases and first responder tribute to the heart of New York City
NEW YORK, Sept. 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) and U.S. Bank transformed the Oculus at World Trade Center in New York City into a hub of lacrosse for a full day of public activities, community programming, and games on Sept. 9. Complete with a real turf field, the eight-hour event brought the sport to life in one of New York City's most iconic spaces. View more content from the event via Instagram.
The celebration looked ahead to the upcoming PLL U.S. Bank Championship on Sunday, Sept. 14, at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, N.J., where the New York Atlas and Denver Outlaws will compete for the title.
Inside the Oculus, fans, commuters, and visitors experienced competitions, athlete meet-and-greets, youth showcases featuring Harlem Lacrosse and the Brooklyn Crescents, as well as a New York Police Department (NYPD) and Fire Department New York (FDNY) PLL skills challenge. Stars from the PLL and Women's Lacrosse League (WLL) teams appeared throughout the day. U.S. Bank donated $10,000 to FDNY and NYPD charities.
"We put a turf field inside the Oculus Transportation Hub, turning one of New York City's busiest landmarks into a lacrosse mecca. That had never been done before," said Paul Rabil, co-founder and president of the Premier Lacrosse League. "This takeover was about bringing our athletes, first responders, local youth, and the public together in one iconic space to celebrate what makes lacrosse and this community so powerful. Partnering with U.S. Bank allowed us to create moments like this that connected people and elevated the sport in bold, meaningful ways."
"At U.S. Bank, we believe in the power of play and how it brings together communities," said Michael Lacorazza, chief marketing officer for U.S. Bank. "This event gave New Yorkers and visitors a chance to connect and enjoy the game of lacrosse together. We're proud to partner with the PLL and WLL to bring joy and play into the Oculus."
The Oculus takeover added to the bank's multi-year partnership with the Premier Lacrosse League and WLL, announced earlier this year. As the Official Banking and Wealth Management Partner of both leagues and title sponsor of PLL Championship Weekend, U.S. Bank is investing in the growth of lacrosse through community programs, youth access, and innovative fan experiences.
The PLL Championship between the New York Atlas and Denver Outlaws will take place Sunday, Sept. 14, at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, N.J. For tickets and information, visit premierlacrosseleague.com.
