On3: Weight. Health. Hike! Campaign Focuses on Importance of Healthy Weight

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J., Sept. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Football League Alumni Association (NFL Alumni) proudly celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month in collaboration with former All-Pro, Pro Bowl New York Giants wide receiver and Super Bowl Champion Victor Cruz, who serves as the program's Ambassador. As part of this celebration, NFL Alumni is expanding its nationwide On 3: Weight. Health. Hike! Program to focus on the Hispanic Community.  This campaign, which emphasizes the importance of tradition, family, and health, also highlights the impact that excess weight can have on overall health and the actions that can be used to achieve a healthy weight.

More than 2 in 5 adults in the U.S. are living with excess weight, which can lead to serious health problems, including heart disease and diabetes. An even higher percentage—45 percent—of Hispanic adults are living with excess weight.  

New York Giants Legend Victor Cruz, who proudly embraces his Puerto Rican heritage, is sharing his personal connection to the cause and the importance of getting help. The New York Giants organization will support Hispanic Heritage Month by featuring themed videos on their social media and broadcast channels.

"I grew up with two strong Puerto Rican women. My grandmother passed away more than 10 years ago from diabetes and now my sister and my mother are facing similar challenges," said Cruz. "Obesity is a disease and it's not something you can tackle alone. It's never too late. If you care about your health, and you care about how you feel and your family members, it starts with making those necessary changes."

The NFL Alumni On 3: Weight. Health. Hike! Program is raising awareness of the benefits of losing weight and encouraging people living with excess weight to take actions to improve their health, including talking to their doctors about a plan that fits their background and lifestyle. More than 30 former NFL players have shared their stories about the importance of achieving a healthy weight, including former All-Pro, Pro Bowl running back and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Eric Dickerson; former Pro Bowl running back Deuce McAllister; former All-Pro, Pro Bowl center and Super Bowl Champion Jeff Saturday; and former Pro Bowl guard and Super Bowl Champion Damien Woody.
