NFL Legend Carl Banks Partners With SPO

NEW YORK, June 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SPO (SPOM.OB), a leading developer of biosensor and microprocessor technologies for consumer wellness applications, today announced it has secured the services of Carl Banks to assist in the sales and marketing program of its SPO Wellness(TM) product line. Mr. Banks will support SPO in implementing the mass-market distribution strategy of the Company.

The initial product being launched by SPO is the Wellness 10k(TM) wristband featuring a display function that continuously measures the number of daily activities against preset recommended goals. Additional products under development include a heart-rate monitor sports watch to measure continuous heart-rate without the need to wear a conventional chest strap.

Carl Banks' interest over many years in fashion and his playing experience at the New York Giants proved to be a winning combination. Banks secured an NFL license to distribute his branded clothing product line to major US retailers. In his current position as President of Sports Licensing at the G-III Apparel Group, Ltd, Banks secured an exclusive license from the NFL and NBA. The G-III Apparel/Carl Banks product line also holds licenses for NHL, NASCAR, Collegiate, Starter Corp., and Louisville Slugger.

After a successful test-marketing program for the Wellness 10k(TM) wristband, SPO has commenced preparations for full commercial roll-out. Carl E. Banks was a football linebacker in the NFL playing for the New York Giants, Washington Redskins and the Cleveland Browns from 1984 to 1995. He made the Pro Bowl in 1987, had 39.5 career quarterback sacks, and was a member of the NFL's 1980's All-Decade Team. He played college football at Michigan State University and was the third overall pick in the 1984 NFL Draft. Banks was a member of the Giants teams that won Super Bowls XXI and XXV as well as playing a key roll recording 14 total tackles, including ten solo tackles at the Super Bowls XXI.
