Nima Shamsaei Honored with SAE International's Henry O. Fuchs Student Award
WARRENDALE, Pa., Feb. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Henry O. Fuchs Student Award, which is awarded twice annually to promote the education of engineering students in the area of fatigue technology, has been awarded to Nima Shamsaei, an engineer at Chrysler Group LLC, at the Fall 2010 SAE Fatigue Design & Evaluation Committee Meeting at Auburn Hills, Michigan.
The Henry O. Fuchs Student Award is granted in order to honor the memory of Professor Henry O. Fuchs, who published extensively in the field of safety design and founded the SAE Fatigue Concepts and Design short course.
Shamsaei holds a bachelor's degree from the Isfahan University of Technology and his master's degree from the Sharif University of Technology, ranked as an honor student at both institutions. Last summer, he graduated from the Fatigue and Fracture Research Laboratory of the University of Toledo with Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering. Using his dissertation research on multiaxial loading as the realistic loading condition for many applications and its effects on material behavior including deformation and fatigue, he has so far published nine journal and several conference papers.
Currently, he works for Chrysler Group LLC as a durability Engineer, and is responsible for durability test schedule development, domestically and internationally, for all Chrysler products.
Shamsaei presented his work to a panel of academia and industry experts at the SAE International Fatigue Design & Evaluation Committee Meeting at Auburn Hills, Mich. This is a working committee comprised of divisions chartered to contribute to the advancement of engineering practice in the areas of materials properties, surface enhancement, structural analysis, road load data acquisition, and life prediction methodology.
