Ninth Annual Denver Arts Week Will Showcase The Mile High City's Creative Community
The Eight-Day Citywide Festival Features More Than 300 Events Including Performing Arts, Exhibitions, Free Night at the Museums, Art Walks, a Film Festival and More.
DENVER, Aug. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- For the ninth straight year, Denver Arts Week will be a celebration of the city's deeply-rooted arts scene. The event, running from November 6-14, 2015, is presented by VISIT DENVER, The Convention & Visitors Bureau; and it will highlight more than 300 events at Denver's vast collection of galleries, museums, performing arts centers and neighborhoods – many of which are free or deeply discounted.

Denver Arts Week kicks off with a free Know Your Arts First Friday event, an evening of art walks with dozens of art galleries open late, offering live music, art demonstrations and a chance to interact with local artists. The week continues with several more annual favorite events – Night at the Museums, during which many of the city's top museums stay open until 10 p.m. for free, and Denver's On Stage, a series of deals and discounts on performing arts around Denver. Partners include Denver Film Festival, the Denver Art Museum and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

Know Your Arts First Friday

The annual kickoff event is a citywide First Friday experience, where more than 100 galleries and display spaces in the Art District on Santa Fe, Belmar Block 7, Golden Triangle Museum District, Navajo Street Arts District, Tennyson Street Cultural District, 40 West Art District and RiNo (River North) Art District will stay open late. Neighborhoods will offer live music, art demonstrations, local food trucks and more. Several galleries will sell original works for the "mile high" price of $52.80, a nod to Denver's mile high elevation of 5,280 feet.
Night at the Museums

Perennially the most popular event of Denver Arts Week with more than 22,000 attendees, Night at the Museums is an evening for people to experience more than 20 of Denver's best museums, all of which offer free admission and extend their Saturday hours from 5 to 10 p.m. The museums offer special programming, family-friendly activities and live entertainment, and there are complimentary shuttle buses to make "museum hopping" easy and convenient.
Additionally, the Denver Art Museum will host the member preview of its new, groundbreaking exhibition, "Wyeth: Andrew and Jamie in the Studio" on November 7. The exhibit features more than 100 works created in a variety of media and explores the connection between Andrew and Jamie Wyeth, a father and son duo of American artists. Tickets for the member preview are available on the Denver Art Museum website. The rest of the museum will be open to the public for free in the evening for Night at the Museums.
Denver Film Festival
November 4-15, 2015
Celebrating its 38th year, the highly acclaimed Denver Film Festival will present films from around the world as well as seminars with internationally-renowned actors and directors, red carpet events and more. Films will be shown at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and the SIE Film Center. Information on film showings, events and more can be found at the Denver Film Festival website.
