NIRI SAN DIEGO JUNE MEETING: "The New Global Economy"
An Informative Discussion by Frank M. Hatheway, Chief Economist, The NASDAQ OMX Group
SAN DIEGO, May 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Diego chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI San Diego) will welcome Frank M. Hatheway, Chief Economist, The NASDAQ OMX Group, Thursday, June 23 starting at 5 p.m. at San Diego-based Websense, Inc. in a program entitled, "The New Global Economy." The event will include a presentation, discussion and networking reception from 5 to 7 p.m.
With a focus on the San Diego market and its industries, this program will provide 1) an overview of the relationship between the markets and the global economy; 2) a look at capital formation; 3) how to read the market indicators about the state of the recovery; and 4) how to think about the implications of the current round of proposed exchange mergers. In addition to IROs, this discussion will be instructive for CEOs, CFOs, corporate communication professionals, as well as public relations officers.
The "Meet the NIRI San Diego Board Members" networking reception will provide participants the opportunity to get together with peers, as well as to meet the newly elected NIRI San Diego chapter board members.
About the Speaker
Frank M. Hatheway is Chief Economist of the NASDAQ OMX Group Inc., and is responsible for a variety of projects and initiatives to support the markets and improve market structure. Since joining NASDAQ OMX, he has carried out a number of studies on NASDAQ and other markets, developed NASDAQ's opening and closing auctions, and advised on major corporate initiatives such as the launch of the NASDAQ Options Market and NASDAQ OMX Europe.
Prior to joining NASDAQ OMX, Dr. Hatheway was a finance professor at Penn State University and a researcher in market microstructure. He has authored academic articles in the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Intermediation and other leading finance journals. Dr. Hatheway has served as an Economic Fellow and Senior Research Scholar with the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission and received his Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University. Dr. Hatheway has specific expertise in U.S. and European financial market structure, regulatory policy, corporate finance, trading system conceptual design.
