NIRI San Diego March 16 Meeting to Focus on the Influence of Social Media on Investor Relations and the Stock Market
STOCKTWITS FOUNDER AND CEO HOWARD LINDZON AND SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALISTS TO PARTICIPATE ON PANEL
SAN DIEGO, March 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Diego Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) will host a panel discussion on Wednesday, March 16, on the use and impact of social media in investor relations.
Like it or not, social media is changing the practice of investor relations. It's a whole new ball game as "citizen-influencers" gain the power to define new trends, amplify rumors and move the market. Best practices are still emerging, and while companies can't ignore these new technologies, it is not clear whether, and how, to engage.
Join us for a lively panel discussion as we explore the brave new world of micro-blogging and the benefits and risks of adding a social media strategy to your IR program.
Panelists include:
-- Howard Lindzon, founder and CEO of StockTwits. With more than 150,000 members and recognition as one of the top 50 websites by Time magazine, the micro-blogging StockTwits platform is emerging as an influential source for real-time trading information, investor sentiment and breaking news.
-- Kim Evans, corporate social media strategist at Life Technologies
-- Karen Hernandez, associate at Cooley
-- Dee Rambeau, VP of Customer Engagement at PR Newswire
A networking reception will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by the presentation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Websense, 10240 Sorrento Valley Road, San Diego, CA 92121. The cost is $50 for members and $65 for non-members; please register by email at [email protected] . The cost on-site for walk-ins is $55 for members and $70 for non-members.
