No Dogs Left Behind Celebrates Ten Years, Over 10,000 Live Saved
September 4th Sag Harbor New York Kidd Squid Brewing Co. Event Draws Big Crowds and Appearance by NBA Champion Josh Hart
SAG HARBOR, N.Y., Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- No Dogs Left Behind (NDLB) founder Jeff Beri announced that the organization, which he founded in 2016, is celebrating "One Decade, Over 10,000 Lives Saved from Slaughter." The US-based, non-profit, with sanctuaries in East Asia, kicked off the celebration with a fun-filled evening event earlier this month, September 4th, at Kidd Squid Brewing Co. in Sag Harbor. The event showcased community and compassion, with attendees of all ages—including adults and children with their canine companions—for an unforgettable evening.
The air was electric with a purpose: to help No Dogs Left Behind reach a critical fundraising goal of $150,000. "Several of our most large-scale campaigns start now. The support from Sag Harbor and everyone who has donated will provide a powerful foundation toward reaching this goal. Please help us keep the momentum going by donating now," stated Beri.
The funds raised are earmarked for these specific, life-saving initiatives:
- Fund Freedom Flights for 475 survivors from China;
- Execute one of the Largest Dog Trafficking Shutdowns in the organization's history.
- A Global Rescue, Vaccination & Sterilization Tour, starting in Ukraine.
- Establish U.S. Sanctuary Expansion to support emergency rescues.
- Create enhanced adoption and education programs in East Asia.
- Partnership Programs with Local Rescues on adoption programs.

A Star-Studded Memory
One of the most memorable moments of the night was the special appearance by professional basketball player Josh Hart of the NBA Champions New York Knicks. A known dog lover, Hart spent nearly an hour interacting with families, signing autographs, and taking photos with star-struck children and their even more star-struck parents. His presence added a unique excitement to the evening and powerfully underscored the event's message that everyone has a role to play in animal rescue.
"Seeing Josh Hart engage so genuinely with the kids and the dogs was a highlight of the year," said Beri. "The memories made by the families here are priceless, and we are so grateful for his support in amplifying our mission."
Moving Stories and Living Proof
Highlighting the evening's program, four adopters took the stage to share their personal experiences of adopting survivors of the dog meat trade. Each family brought their rescued dogs – Mercy, Simba, Flash, and Bozie - to the event, giving attendees a firsthand look at how these resilient, gentle animals, now ambassadors of ending the dog meat trade in East Asia, have transformed into loving, family pets. Meeting the dogs in person offered a powerful, heartwarming testimony to NDLB's rehabilitation and adoption efforts. Some of NDLB's longest serving volunteers also shared stories of the incredible work of saving lives and transporting survivors to safety over the last ten years.
Fun for All Families (Two and Four-Legged) The "Dogs & Children Welcome" premise was fully realized, turning the brewery into a massive, happy family gathering. Attendees enjoyed delicious gourmet pizza, finger foods, while adults enjoyed signature cocktails. Live music set a lively backdrop for the festivities.
No Dogs Left Behind extends our heartfelt thanks to the Sag Harbor community and to Kidd Squid Brewing Co., Candy and Mark Udell, NBA Champion Josh Hart of the New York Knicks, Tramontano Produce, Tutto Café, BonBon NYC, Gone Bananas Bread, The Farmer's Dog, Maura Platz, and every volunteer, supporter, and attendee who helped make this extraordinary evening possible. The event was more than a successful fundraiser—it was a beautiful celebration of compassion, community, and the unbreakable human-canine bond.
About No Dogs Left Behind: NDLB has differentiated itself as leaders in emergency response, rescue, and evacuation, making a global impact in the lives of dogs around the world. "We go where no one is willing nor able to go, the most dangerous places in the world, areas hard-hit by natural disasters and war-infested combat zones," explains Beri. NDLB's mission is to fight for an end to the dog meat trade in East Asia, bring about global animal welfare laws and to save lives in East Asia as well as beyond borders including but not limited to the endangered Galgos in Spain, the dogs of war in Ukraine and the dogs left behind in Afghanistan. The foundation's mission extends beyond borders, advocating for the creation and enforcement of animal welfare laws, and raising awareness for a cruelty-free, sustainable world in which no animal is violated, exploited, tortured or slaughtered for commercial goods or profit. With nearly 500 survivors in its care, No Dogs Left Behind operates two shelters in East Asia. For more information, visit https://nodogsleftbehind.com.
