TORONTO, May 20, 2015 /CNW/ - Earned it! Much announced today that multi-platinum alternative R&B sensation The Weeknd garnered an impressive six 2015 MUCH MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS nominations, the most of any artist. International breakout singer-songwriter and previously announced 2015 MMVA performer Shawn Mendes is close behind with four nominations, while 2015 MMVA co-host, performer, and six-time GRAMMY^® Award nominee Ed Sheeran is tied with multi-platinum Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire, with three nominations apiece.

Nabbing his first MMVA nomination as a solo artist is 2015 MMVA performer, multi-platinum recording artist, and "Jealous" hit-maker Nick Jonas. Additional first-time nominees include international DJ Calvin Harris, chart-topping singer-songwriter Hozier, hip hop sensation Kendrick Lamar, GRAMMY Award winner Sam Smith, two-time GRAMMY Award nominee Sia, Canadian artists Majid Jordan, Naturally Born Strangers, and Scott Helman, and many more. The 2015 MMVAs kicks off live coast-to-coast-to-coast, Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Much. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.

Also announced today were this year's Wildcard nominee winners for the Fan Fave categories. They are:

This year, a total of 15 MuchFACT-funded music videos are nominated for an MMVA, representing more than $409,000 in investment. Nominated artists include Death from Above 1979, Grandtheft f. Keys N Krates, Lights, Torro Torro, and many more.
