Northstar Lottery Group Serves up Good Food and Great Vibes at Ronald McDonald House®

CHICAGO, Aug. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second consecutive year, Northstar Lottery Group employees will participate in the 'Meals from the Heart' Volunteer Program and prepare a home-cooked meal for families at Ronald McDonald House® near Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana keeps families of hospitalized children together in a 'home away from home' where they can eat, sleep and share emotional support - just blocks from where their child is being treated. The 'Meals from the Heart' Volunteer Program gives the families time to relax and replenish after spending long days at their child's hospital bedside. 

Tonight's menu consists of basil chicken breasts, pork loin medallions, stuffed meatballs, shrimp scampi, various pastas, broccoli, salad and a plethora of dessert – all prepared by more than 20 Northstar employees.

Northstar Lottery Group has been committed to community service since July 2011, when it officially became the private manager of the Illinois Lottery. Each year, Northstar sponsors various charitable programs and has opened 10 After School Advantage computer labs around the state. Northstar fully equips these labs with computer hardware, software, online technology and furniture. All learning labs are fully operational during after school hours, providing a safe and enriching environment for children and teens in these communities.
