SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- nthCard today announced the release of nthPOS, an application that allows participating merchants to activate, redeem, and reload gift cards using a mobile phone or tablet.
The new app, which runs on all smart phones and mobile devices, utilizes either a mobile device's built-in camera or a connected barcode or magstripe reader to facilitate the activation and redemption of gift cards. By using technology that most people carry in their pockets, nthPOS allows merchants to run real-time transactions anywhere that internet access is available.
As consumer demand for gift cards continues to grow, many businesses are looking for ways to expand and improve their gift card program, but changing gift card processors has traditionally been logistically daunting.
"If you're a business owner, and you want to get away from your current gift card processor, you have to consider many factors," says David Witt, nthCard CTO and primary architect of the nthPOS app.
"Can my new processor convert my old cards to their system? Can they integrate with my current point of sale system? Are they reliable - if I lose my internet connection, am I going to lose sales? nthPOS was designed to take these concerns out of the equation and allow businesses to make the best decision for their bottom line and for their customers."
nthPOS is also noteworthy for its ability to allow businesses without a fixed location and point of sale system—like food trucks—to run transactions wherever they are. Any phone with internet access and a data plan can activate or redeem a gift card, and activations run regardless of connection state.
The nthPOS app is currently available for Android, iOS, and Windows 10 devices. For more information, please visit www.nthcard.com.
