NuLiv Science Launches CordycepsPrime™ Beverage Grade, a Cordyceps Ingredient Built for Liquid Applications

BREA, Calif., Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- NuLiv Science, a plant-based nutraceutical ingredients company, today announced the launch of CordycepsPrime™ Beverage Grade, a new mesh size of its liquid-fermented Cordyceps sinensis ingredient created specifically for use in beverages and other liquid formats.

Functional mushroom powders do not dissolve, and standard grades settle quickly in liquid, producing sediment and potentially gritty texture. This has limited the use of mushroom fruiting bodies and mycelium, including cordyceps sinensis, in finished beverages. Formulators have generally had to choose among an extract with maltodextrin, leaving the ingredient out, or accepting the settling.

CordycepsPrime™ Beverage Grade is milled to an average particle size of 20 microns, making each particle too small to distinguish by the human eye. At that size, the powder disperses into liquid, settles more slowly than standard mushroom powder, and re-disperses with light agitation rather than vigorous shaking. The particles are fine enough that they are not perceptible in the finished beverage.

The ingredient uses the same liquid fermentation NuLiv Science has used since 1997, when its founders patented an early liquid-fermented Cordyceps sinensis ingredient. The beverage grade differs from the standard grade only in mesh size. It is standardized to 8% cordycepic acid, the biomarker for Cordyceps sinensis, for consistency across batches.

CordycepsPrime™ Beverage Grade is composed of pure fermented mycelium with no residual substrate, and it is certified Organic, Kosher, Halal, and is Gluten Free. It is intended for finished liquid products such as ready-to-drink beverages, shots, mushroom coffees, and shakes.

NuLiv Science is offering the new grade as a selectable option that clients can specify at the quote stage alongside standard and standard organic options.
