LONDON, March 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Oceana Energy Company will present at CleanEquity Monaco 2012; the conference is on March 29th & 30th at the Sporting d'Hiver, Monaco.
Oceana Energy Company (Oceana) was included, by expert selection, as one of the world's most inspiring cleantech companies, to present to industry-specific, senior financial and strategic investors, policy makers, legislators, end users and media.
Oceana is a privately held U.S. company that has developed a hydrokinetic turbine with magnetic power take-off and magnetic bearings that converts energy from tides or other water currents into reliable and cost-effective electrical energy. Oceana's turbine technology is superior to competing technologies in the following critical respects:
- Oceana's patented permanent magnet axial turbine bearings and blade sweep configuration enable its turbines to produce twice as much electrical energy as competing systems of comparable size;
- Oceana's turbines are manufactured with scalable, modular, composite materials that are significantly less costly than those used by competitors; and
- Oceana's turbines have a maintenance cycle of 15 to 20 years as opposed to off-line maintenance cycles for current technologies measured in months.
The superior performance characteristics of Oceana's turbine technology have been validated by U.S. Navy propulsion engineers under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with the Navy. The U.S. Patent Office has issued a patent covering Oceana's core technology and Oceana has filed patent applications covering its magnetic power take-off and bearing innovations.
In addition to its innovative turbine technology, Oceana holds preliminary permits from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to deploy its turbines in San Francisco Bay and Hell Gate in the East River next to Manhattan. It is in discussion with key stakeholders in San Francisco and New York with respect to pilot demonstrations of its technology under those permits.
