Data released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, shows a similar trend, as the body found that across the EU27 almost one in four holiday trips in 2010 were to destinations abroad. In Britain, this figure was even higher as 39 per cent of trips were to destinations outside the United Kingdom.
