Online Leader in Home Insurance to Plant 500 Trees for Earth Day 2010
WILMINGTON, N.C., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- HomeInsurance.com has pledged to plant a tree for every 10 customers who visit their website and fill out a home insurance quote before Earth Day 2010.
The company's goal to plant 500 trees before Earth Day (April 22, 2010) may just be reached as they have already raised enough for the planting of 380 trees and they still have 7 weeks to go. Not only is their national customer base helping in the initiative but their 150+ employees are also joining in the effort by donating funds to plant trees on their own.
"We are excited to raise these funds for American Forests and do our part to give back to our environment," said Jana Bell, Senior Managing Partner. "The 500 Trees campaign is just one way we strive to fulfill our responsibility to the global community."
This is by no means the first step that HomeInsurance.com has taken towards supporting a sustainable environment. In 2009 the company replaced all 100+ of the standard PCs in their main headquarters with energy efficient computers which cut their computer energy usage down by 92 percent.
Their goal of going paperless is also close to being attained at HomeInsurance.com as they have moved thousands of paper-based documents to an online environment. Policy documents, training manuals, scripts and even agent notepads have been translated into digital format cutting down on company waste by over 75 percent.
"Our environmental policy has been with us since day one and it is reflected in all facets of our business," said Carlos Lagomarsino, CEO of HomeInsurance.com. "Our carriers, such as Travelers, offer hybrid vehicle discounts, green building coverage for mid-sized businesses and many other environmentally friendly coverage options for our customers."
HomeInsurance.com has also recently partnered with Home Warranty of America (HWA) giving their customers easy access to HWA's GreenPlus home warranty option. The environmentally friendly home warranty package covers replacement with Energy Star qualified products.
