OpenMetal Acquires Economize, Launches Labs to Help Businesses Optimize Their Cloud and AI Infrastructure

The acquisition pairs Economize's FinOps expertise and software with OpenMetal's infrastructure under one accountable provider.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenMetal today announced it has acquired Economize, a cloud cost management platform. The acquisition launches OpenMetal Labs, which builds custom infrastructure and cost solutions for complex business needs. Labs is OpenMetal's fifth offering, alongside Hosted Private Cloud, Bare Metal Dedicated Servers, GPU Servers and Clusters, and Ceph Storage Clusters.

Most businesses run a customized blend of cloud services, with AI and GPU spend taking a growing share of budgets. Yet few get fair unit economics from a vendor that stands behind their infrastructure. Together, OpenMetal and Economize help customers decide what should run where and keep it optimized.

Labs now combines that expertise, which spans everything from large-scale OpenStack and Ceph engineering to real-time cloud cost anomaly detection.
