BRIDGEWATER, N.J., Oct 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Nestlé Health Science announced today the three winners of the ninth annual OPTIFAST® "New You" contest, where participants are asked to answer the following question, "What accomplishments, big or small, have you been able to achieve since starting your OPTIFAST® Weight Loss Journey?" The three winners with a combined 311 lbs lost between them are heading to New York City for a fun-filled weekend, including a makeover and a photoshoot in Times Square.
"By featuring successful OPTIFAST® patients through the "New You" contest, we hope to help inspire others to change their lives for the better and achieve their long-term weight loss goals by starting the OPTIFAST® program," says Maria Celada, Senior Consumer Marketing Manager of OPTIFAST®. After the prize weekend on October 12 –14, the winner's stories and photos will be posted on www.optifast.com/newyou.
The 2018 OPTIFAST® "New You" weight loss contest winners are:
Eugene Gamez from Schaumberg, Ill, who joined AMITA Health Center for Bariatrics & Weight Loss, is so excited about his OPTIFAST® program 194-lb weight loss* that he wants to stand in the middle of a busy downtown Chicago street holding a sign that says, "I just lost 194 lbs —Ask Me How!" Eugene will have his opportunity—the OPTIFAST® marketing team will be filming him in Times Square on October 13, doing exactly this!
Cynthia Prowant from Scottsdale, AZ, who joined The Scottsdale Weight Loss Center, had enough. Enough sleepless nights, enough heart issues, enough inflammation and pain in her legs and joints** that kept her from enjoying fun outdoor hikes with her family. She felt lost, discouraged, and overwhelmed and wondered if this was all she had to look forward to after turning 60. Cynthia started the OPTIFAST® program in 2017 and now, a year later, her life has changed in ways she never thought possible! She's shed the unhealthy extra 60 lbs she carried for years and as a result, regained her good health.
Kristin Reep from Columbus, OH, joined The Central Ohio Nutrition Center, Inc. For Kristin, the three words, "I love summer" were never words she understood. Kristin had been overweight most of her adult life and she didn't realize until this year that summer is HER favorite season too! She no longer finds herself wanting to hide indoors. Kristin's starting weight was 240 lbs and her current weight is 175 lbs —a 65-lb weight loss!* Kristin says that the OPTIFAST® program gave her back the life that she hadn't realized she lost.
The prize weekend also coincides with the launch of the new OPTIFAST® digital program called OPTIforLifeTM—a program designed for people who have completed the OPTIFAST® program and want to maintain their successful weight loss. OPTIforLifeTM offers continued support, free meal plans and videos, plus the ability to purchase OPTIFAST® products online.
*The success stories of these OPTIFAST® New You Contest winners are representative of these individuals only and do not represent all OPTIFAST® patients. OPTIFAST ®patients who actively participate in a 26-week program typically lose approximately 50 pounds. OPTIFAST® patients typically maintain a 33-pound weight loss after 1 year from starting the program and a 20-pound weight loss after 2 years.
** Maintaining a healthy weight is associated with reduced risk of diabetes and heart disease. These benefits are not limited or attributed to weight loss with the OPTIFAST® Program specifically. No case is typical.
