FRANKFURT, Germany, April 8 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Pioneer of LED lighting OPTILED today won a Design Plus powered by Light+Building award for its ARRAY product series. Chosen for its design quality, innovation and ecological quality, ARRAY is targeted at the retail sector. The award was presented at the Light+Building exhibition, one of the world's most important trade fairs for architecture and technology.

Design Plus powered by Light+Building is a new competition that combines the Design Plus awards and the Lights of the Future awards, both of which were previously held at Light+Building. The awards have been set up for Messe Frankfurt by the German Design Council, the centre for design excellence at federal level.

A total of 259 products from 140 companies entered the competition this year, with 32 finally being presented awards. A panel of industry experts judged entries on overall concept and design quality, innovativeness, and technological and ecological quality. The new award places greater importance on energy efficiency.

ARRAY is stylishly designed with a wide variety of products ranging from 1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 2x2 ARRAY fixtures, which make it optimal for retail applications. It is the ideal replacement for conventional 50W AR111 fixture, opening up opportunities for the retail sector to experience the energy and cost-efficiency of LED lighting, which has significantly longer life-spans and lower power consumption than conventional lighting with up to 80% energy saving. The lower temperatures of LED lighting also translate to lower air-conditioning costs, while their longer life spans minimize maintenance and business disruption. The LED lighting high color rendering index up to 80 also benefits reflection of true color of the merchandises. No UV emission of LED lighting also helps retain color of merchandise in good conditions.
