Orange County Modernizes Procurement with OpenGov as New AI-Powered Capabilities Launch at NIGP

County centralized more than 2,400 contracts across 22 departments and helped shape new procurement capabilities through OpenGov's private preview program

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- (NIGP Forum 2026) — The County of Orange, California, has overhauled procurement operations across 22 departments and 19,000 employees with OpenGov Procurement & Contract Management, bringing more than 2,400 active contracts into one system, replacing fragmented shared drives, spreadsheets, and email approval chains, and expanding its supplier pool by 10%.

Now, Orange County is helping shape what's next.

As a participant in OpenGov's private preview program, Orange County works directly with the OpenGov product team to test, validate, and help shape several new procurement capabilities ahead of broader release. At NIGP Forum 2026, OpenGov, the company that powers the AI platform for state and local government, announced new Contract and Vendor Management capabilities that expand its AI-powered procurement platform and connect agencies and vendors from sourcing and bidding through contract negotiation, vendor management, invoicing, and payment.

Orange County has also created the SoCal Procurement Alliance, bringing together more than 95 public agencies across five Southern California counties to collaborate on more than 1,100 cooperative contracts.

The new capabilities give vendors a single place to find opportunities, submit bids, collaborate on contracts, maintain business and compliance information, submit invoices, and track activity. Procurement teams can manage the corresponding vendor records, contracts, approvals, audit history, and spend in the same system.

New Contract Authoring capabilities allow agencies to draft, review, redline, and approve contracts through a shared workflow instead of circulating multiple versions over email. Expanded Contract Management gives teams visibility into contract status, upcoming actions, vendor relationships, approvals, and spend in every phase of the contract lifecycle.
