SALEM, Ore., March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Think of it as the polar opposite of a 'staycation.' Or a proven cure for the 'lazycation.' Today, Travel Oregon invites consumers to enter the "Win an Oregon Adventurecation" contest. Whether it's playing the famed Bandon Dunes' newest course, Old Macdonald Golf Links, before it opens to the public, cruising along scenic bikeways to Willamette Valley and Southern Oregon wineries, or shooting the rapids in Hells Canyon, each winner will enjoy the outdoor vacation of a lifetime.
Consumers can register to win at www.TravelOregon.com/DreamTrips. Three lucky entrants – a golfer, a cyclist and a daredevil – will win the chance to bring three guests to spend a week experiencing an Oregon Adventurecation. The trips up for grabs are:
Ultimate Golf Road Trip
The winning foursome will spend seven days on seven of Oregon's finest courses. The highlight of this trip is an exclusive 18-hole sneak preview round on the new Old Macdonald Golf Links course at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort before it opens to the public. In addition to being custom fitted for drivers and apparel from NIKE Golf and staying in luxury accommodations, winners will play the renowned Pumpkin Ridge and tee it up on the best courses in Central Oregon – Pronghorn, Brasada Ranch and Tetherow. Travel must occur May 29 – June 4, 2010. See official rules and full itinerary at www.TravelOregon.com/DreamTrips/Golf.
Wine Country Cycling Tour
The winner and three friends will begin their trip with a two-wheeled tour of downtown Portland before heading to the vineyards of the Willamette Valley and Southern Oregon. There, they'll ride amongst the wineries, unwind in comfy historic inns, be treated to private tastings, enjoy picnic lunches and have a personal dinner with a winemaker – all while being pampered by their own personal cycling guide and guru. Travel to occur prior to August 31, 2011. See official rules and full itinerary at www.TravelOregon.com/DreamTrips/Cycling.
Outdoor Adrenaline Trek
A lucky daredevil and three willing friends will ski, climb, ride and raft their way around some of Oregon's most exhilarating terrain. The trip kicks off with hiking, climbing and summer skiing on Mount Hood, followed by windsurfing and kiteboarding in Hood River and horseback riding in Eastern Oregon. The Adrenaline Trek culminates in a three-day Hells Canyon rafting adventure. Travel to occur in July or August 2011. See official rules and full itinerary at www.TravelOregon.com/DreamTrips/Adventure.
All three Adventurecations include airfare for four on Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air, ground transportation and lodging. The entry period for the Ultimate Golf Road Trip ends at 11:59 p.m. PDT on April 23, 2010; entries for the Wine Country Cycling Tour and Outdoor Adrenaline Trek must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. PDT July 18, 2010. Winners will be randomly selected and notified within a week of the closing dates.
"One of the best ways to enjoy Oregon is by tackling its challenging golf courses, country back roads, rushing rivers and rugged mountains," said Travel Oregon's Director of Consumer Marketing Kevin Wright. "Whether you're dreaming of an exhilarating outdoor adventure or tranquil exploration, Oregon is an ideal Adventurecation destination."
Oregon boasts America's deepest river gorge, a reputation as the windsurfing capital of the world, world-class golf courses built by some of the industry's best-known architects, America's only year-round ski season, and miles of bikeways. Whatever your passion, Oregon's natural and scenic variety – coast, mountains, rivers, high desert, plains, forests and valleys – lends equally to invigorating outdoor adventure or tranquil exploration.
Highlighting the best of Oregon's outdoor offerings, the contest gives three lucky winners and their friends the chance to experience it for themselves. Those interested in making the Oregon outdoors a part of their next vacation can get information and trip planning tools on the website at www.TravelOregon.com/DreamTrips.
