Oregon District Plans to Duplicate Record Summer School Achievement in 2015
North Clackamas Students Recover Credits with Fuel Education™ Online Courses and PEAK™ Platform
HERNDON, Va., Jan. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As school districts across the country embark on the second half of the school year, North Clackamas Schools is looking ahead with plans to repeat the enormous success it achieved with its summer school program in 2014. With record enrollments and a high rate of success, hundreds of students in North Clackamas Schools who were lagging in credits got back on track to graduate as a result of their summer program.
This suburban Portland, Oregon, district serving more than 17,000 students, has run a robust summer school program for many years, but in the summer of 2014, it more than doubled enrollments, resulting in students earning more credits during the summer than ever before.
Partnering with personalized learning solutions provider Fuel Education (FuelEd™) for its summer school program, the district had a record 496 enrollments, with 410 completions – an 83 percent success rate. North Clackamas Schools uses FuelEd Online Courses, a wide variety of engaging, original credit and credit recovery courses, as well as instruction from highly-qualified, certified FuelEd teachers. The summer program was held at a centrally located school, in four labs where district teachers "floated" through the labs to provide students additional support.
Prior to the summer program, the district met with FuelEd educational consultants to develop a strategy for success. The strategy included streamlining the enrollment process, online tracking and monitoring of student progress, using analytics to identify when students needed assistance, providing instructional support and supplemental content, and training mentors on the curriculum and technology platform.
