CHICAGO, Dec. 21, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world has extended its relationship with advanced planning and fleet optimization specialist, ORTEC. The contract between the two companies will run until 2013 and now includes additional content.
Products such as NAVTEQ Traffic Patterns and NAVTEQ Transport are included in the agreement. The latter provides the transportation and logistics industries with accurate truck-specific attributes and content which can be used in a range of applications such as routing, fleet optimization and navigation. NAVTEQ Traffic Patterns is a comprehensive database of information which gives drivers the information they need to decide when and how to avoid congested areas and enables a more accurate estimated time of arrival.
ORTEC, which won the 2009 Dutch Logistics Award for its contribution to improving the efficiency of logistics processes through intelligent planning solutions, has been using NAVTEQ digital map data for the last decade.
"We need detailed map data globally for our routing and scheduling software and NAVTEQ is a clear leader in the field," explained Theodoor Torn, ORTEC Product Manager.
