Otis Elevators Selected for Yangzhou Modern Service District
TIANJIN, China, Aug. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Yangzhou Modern Service District (Y-MSD), an upscale mixed-use development now under construction in Yangzhou, east China, will be served by 113 Otis elevators and escalators. Developer Tianjin TEDA Group Co. Ltd. has selected 35 Otis SkyRise® elevators, 52 Gen2® elevators and 26 LINK escalators to help it create a thriving service industry hub for the region. Otis, the world's leading manufacturer and maintainer of elevators, escalators and moving walkways, is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The new city-within-a-city is located in Yangzhou's Guangling New District, covering a construction area of over 1 million square meters. Designed as a new central business district to promote service-oriented economic growth, Y-MSD will incorporate high-end office buildings, retail space and small office/home space. The project is expected to be completed in 2017.
Otis Elevator (China) Co., Ltd ("Otis China"), an Otis entity in China, will provide the elevators and escalators. Otis SkyRise high-rise elevators operate at speeds of up to 6 meters per second, offering a high level of reliability and comfort for passengers. The Gen2 elevators incorporate ReGen™ drive technology for energy savings of up to 75 percent under normal working conditions, compared to traditional elevators with non-regenerative drives.
The latest Gen2 generation, the Otis Gen2 Premier, is designed especially for high-end commercial buildings. It enhances the passenger experience with minimal vibration and noise. The elevators will also incorporate Otis' CompassPlus™ destination management system, which improves passenger flow by reducing elevator wait and travel time.
