Ousted Former City Manager of Homestead Fights Back
Mike A. Shehadeh is suing the City of Homestead for Breach of Contract for sums in excess of $1,300,000
MIAMI, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Ousted former City Manager of Homestead, Mike A. Shehadeh is suing the City of Homestead, which suspended, then terminated him citing conduct unbecoming of a public official. Shehadeh's lawyers filed suit on March 30 and the City was served later that day.
The friction between Shehadeh and the City began when officials discovered that Shehadeh had reported certain irregularities by the City to law enforcement officials. After finding out about this, certain City officials set out to mar Shehadeh's reputation thus diminishing his credibility by spreading misinformation about wrongdoings. They eventually fired Shehadeh.
After Shehadeh demanded the City provide him, in writing, with the specific information regarding his suspension and termination, the City did not abide by his request.
"Not since the 1970's have I seen such abuse of power and racism," said Alfonso J. Perez, with Rasco Klock Reininger Perez Esquenazi Vigil & Nieto, attorneys for the former City Manager. "It is obvious that they just wanted to create a reason to replace him with a crony and save the substantial sums they would have to pay under the written employment contract."
Shehadeh is the victim of a City that used him as a pawn to cover up their wrongdoings. In the next few weeks, Shehadeh's team of lawyers will be taking depositions and preparing for trial.
