The company is a venture backed spinout from Yale University, co-founded by professor Paul Anastas, Director of the Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering at Yale. One such novel ingredient, Hydrofleur™ was introduced in June 2018 by P2's marketing partner, Bedoukian Research at the World Perfumery Congress in Nice, France.

Neil Burns, CEO, described the P2 plant as running a process unlike any other. P2 Science's executive team includes Neil Burns, CEO, whose career spans 30 years in the surfactants and oleochemicals industries including time as CEO of Oxiteno USA and a Director of Pilot Chemical Company. Patrick Foley, P2's Chief Science Officer is a co-founder of the company and the lead inventor on all the company's patents. Joel Jones recently joined the company as Chief Commercial Officer after a 30-year career with Dow Chemical and leadership roles with two private equity backed chemical companies.
