PA Gaming Control Board Releases Table Game Revenue Figures for January

Monthly revenue is second highest since introduction of table games

HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Table games play withstood a harsh January to generate revenue of over $43 million, an amount that ranks second in overall monthly table games revenue since the tables games were introduced into Pennsylvania casinos last year.

According to the report posted today by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on its web site, www.pgcb.state.pa.us, table games produced gross revenue in January of $43,310,753.  Except for slightly higher overall revenue in December 2010 of $44 million, January's total ranks as the second highest monthly revenue figure of the six full months that table games have operated at the 10 casinos.

The figures showed $6,929,720 in tax revenue was returned to Commonwealth citizens from table games play in January.  Gross table games revenue is taxed at a 16% rate with 14% going to the Commonwealth's General Fund and 2% to the local host county and municipality.

Additionally, poker tables (referred to in the report as Non-Banking Tables) had its highest month thus far generating $4,580,497 in gross revenue.  

These figures came despite poor weather in January that, as reported in an earlier PGCB press release on January slot machine revenue, made it difficult for patrons to visit casinos last month.

The Board also reported that the average number of tables operating continued to grow with 841 in operation during January compared to 783 in daily operation during December 2010.
