SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 9, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Park West Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition featuring the artwork of acclaimed artist Jim Warren.
Experience Warren's Neo-Surreal art during Park West Gallery's exhibition, "The Painted Worlds of Jim Warren." A free opening reception will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 at the gallery's Southfield location.
"Jim Warren has created a visual language of his own, harkening the dreamlike surrealism of Salvador Dalí and bringing in a narrative quality that draws the viewer in, holds their attention, and entertains them," Park West Gallery Director David Gorman says. "The exhibition includes not only iconic Jim Warren imagery, but also a number of canvases that showcase the evolution of a painter who continues to push himself."
This is Warren's first exhibition with Park West Gallery. More than 50 of Warren's original paintings will be on display, some of which have never been seen by the public. All works will be available to collect.
Warren is a self-taught artist who grew up in California. During his 50-year career, Warren has created book covers, movie posters and album covers. In 1980, Warren created the cover for rock legend Bob Seger's "Against the Wind" album. The album won two Grammy Awards, one for best recording package.
Warren first took up art in high school. Inspired by the works of Dalí and Andy Warhol, Warren combines photorealism and his imagination to create images that simultaneously enthrall and evoke wonder. His subjects range from finely detailed portraits to whimsical landscapes.
"I want to create effects where people are almost entertained and amused," Warren says. "I'm not trying to say one thing or get one effect all the time. Sometimes I want to shock people, for them to be like, 'Whoa, that's weird.'"
