PBS Stations To Air Program Aimed At Government Regulations, Waste And Fraud
BUSINESSMAN RAQUET BOOK "GOVERNMENT IS KILLING THE ECONOMY" IS FOCUS
NEW YORK, Oct. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Excessive and unnecessary regulations to the tune of $2 trillion, as well as another $1 trillion in waste and fraud are the focus of a television program for Public Broadcasting Stations that will begin airing soon on a PBS station in your area. Burt Wolf, host of the popular Travel and Traditions series, tackles a different, but topical issue, in a 24-minute program titled, "Am I Getting This Right," and covers government mismanagement.
He interviews Walter Raquet, a legendary entrepreneur, who has just written a book on the topic, Government is Killing the Economy, in which he outlines the problems and cost to Americans, in addition to common sense thoughts on a cure for these ills. Raquet blames over-regulation, waste and fraud in government for the stagnant U.S. economic growth and the reason middle class Americans have not gotten any wage increases for more than 15 years.
Wolf commented about his program, "The stories are so preposterous that you end up laughing before you start crying," about the mismanagement in government.
Covered in the program is Raquet's suggestion, distilled from a 50-year career -- by executive order, the next president should scrap the present system and start over. Every government agency should be given a board of directors made up of seasoned business executives and eminent industry experts equally divided between Democrats and Republicans (and as many true independents as we can find) who volunteer their services. Congress would need to authorize funding for the agencies as it does now, but would have the benefit of knowledgeable advisors serving at the request of the president, which is the president's prerogative.
"I wrote this book and have embarked on a public tour bringing this important message to the American people, because I love my country and am concerned about the future. This television program for Public Broadcasting Stations will hopefully reach many more people who will rise up and demand changes in Washington," said Raquet.
