Peabody Energy Earns Honor For Industry Excellence And Leadership At 2012 Platts Global Energy Awards

(NYSE: BTU) with a Global Energy Commodity Excellence Award for leading the global coal sector in performance and stewardship. The honor was presented at the 14^th Annual Global Energy Awards Ceremony in New York City.  

The Commodity Excellence Award recognizes Peabody for industry-leading safety, operational, marketing and environmental achievements, corporate citizenship and financial success.
