TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Pentel of America, a leading supplier of quality writing instruments in the United States, is bringing back the art of the handwritten letter. In celebration of National Handwriting Day on January 23, Pentel of America has launched a "Thank You Letter" contest.

Visitors to or their Facebook page can submit a scan or photo of a personal thank you letter to anyone they wish. Pentel will highlight creative and memorable letters throughout the month of January and will award a Pentel gift box and $25 VISA card to the five best entries. The first 50 entries automatically receive a Pentel product prize.

"Handwritten letters are one of the most meaningful ways to express your thoughts and feelings," states Pentel Digital Marketing Manager, Jason Cole. "The thought and effort required to put feelings into written form says a lot to the recipient. It tells them, 'I value our personal connection enough to pause in this hectic, fast-paced electronic world to write down how I feel.' National Handwriting Day is just a moment plucked out of the calendar, but the sentiment lives on throughout the year. We hope our simple contest helps others slow down for just a moment to reflect and respond to people that have made an impact in their lives."
