READING, Mass., April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Physicians Interactive Inc. (PI), the leading provider of online and mobile clinical resources and solutions for healthcare professionals, today announced it is launching free iPhone and Android versions of its popular Omnio application.
The iPhone version of Omnio for iOS 7 or higher is available for download through iTunes. The Android version for Android 2.2 or higher will be available for download through the Google Play Store by the end of April. Both versions include an introductory offer of a free three-month trial version of The Merck Manual for Healthcare Professionals within the app.
More than 100,000 clinicians have already downloaded the innovative iPad version of Omnio since its introduction in late 2012, with users giving it nearly a 5-star rating on the Apple Store and making it the consensus go-to medical resource app. Those users will also be able to convert to the Omnio mobile phone apps for free.
"We are building on the successes of the iPad user experience with Omnio in launching these powerful iPhone and Android versions," said Donato Tramuto, CEO and Chairman of the Board for Physicians Interactive. "Medical professionals are demonstrating that Omnio performs well within their workflow, with daily open rates for the app and the time spent on each visit growing tremendously over the past several months. Now, clinicians will be able to access, digest and share the same information they need to treat patients – immediately, right at the point of care – through their mobile phones as well."
With medical information doubling every three to five years, Omnio was designed to meet the challenge of information overload for medical professionals. Omnio allows clinicians to keep up with the data by funneling the growing array of information and tools into a customizable and intuitive interface, giving medical professionals one-touch access to the answers they need, directly within their workflow. Comprehensive drug information, condition overviews from The Merck Manual for Healthcare Professionals, more than 500 medical calculators, and daily updates from newly published medical literature keep medical professionals more plugged in than ever before possible.
"Omnio's open architecture makes content from almost 2,000 sources available, enabling clinicians to access valuable information specific to their interests and specialties through the industry's premier app," said Gautam Gulati, Chief Medical & Innovation Officer at Physicians Interactive. "All of this information is just one tap away on Omnio through their mobile phones, so healthcare professionals don't have to rummage through multiple digital and print resources to access information when and where they need it most – right at the point of care."
The extensive medical information of Omnio is presented with maximum flexibility for users. Omnio's tabbed navigation within the REFERENCE section makes it easy to return to interrupted workflows or access frequently used items throughout the application. These tools automatically customize content presented to clinicians so it is only one tap away when it is needed. Clinicians who want to organize their content can create as many custom pages as they need through their mobile phones. Omnio also enables clinicians to bookmark and tag key resources: any calculator or text can easily be added to any page for quick access. And to maximize efficiency, users can earn CME 2 credits automatically by reviewing new medical literature in the FEED section.
The powerful new versions of Omnio for mobile phones also offer social sharing capabilities through My Pages. This architecture allows for rapid growth of additional content, as third parties with valuable tools and information for clinicians can integrate into the app – where sophisticated engineering will deliver the highest value content to the users who need it, when they need it.
