"Pick'Em Charity Challenge" Launched to Engage Fans and Inspire Charitable Giving

WASHINGTON, Jan. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- A host of foundations connected to notable NFL athletes, including Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, Redskins tight end Vernon Davis, Super Bowl XLIII MVP Santonio Holmes and others, have teamed up with Pick Factor to promote the "Pick'Em Charity Challenge" – an inventive app designed to raise funds and increase awareness for various charitable missions during the game in Minneapolis on Sunday.

In partnership with the NFLPA's Professional Athletes Foundation, the Pick'Em Charity Challenge blends the thrill of sports predictions with the gratification of charitable fundraising, allowing foundations to create an immersive experience that engages the live TV and stadium audience – from the most devoted fans, to more casual viewers.

Available now for download in the App Store and Google Play, users register by providing a small tax-deductible donation to the participating nonprofit of their choice. Once an account is established, participating nonprofits and individual users are able to create leagues, challenge friends and family, and battle to win signed memorabilia or other prizes.

The app then presents a series of fun questions that are answered before kickoff about how the game will progress, such as "Will the first play of the game be a run or pass?" or "Which QB will have more total passing yards?" Each participating organization will have access to the results among its group of users, with many providing incentives awarded for the best scores.

Last year, Pick Factor worked with the Elton John AIDS Foundation to launch an Oscars prediction game/app, which was used during the organization's annual viewing party fundraiser hosted in LA and attended by hundreds of Hollywood/media celebrities. Guests made Oscar picks, which were tracked and scored using the app in real-time – concluding with Elton's announcement of a winner within minutes of the conclusion of the show. Pick Factor plans to support the Foundation again with this year's Oscars party.

Other NFL organizations promoting the app include Redskin legend Darrell Green's "Youth Life Foundation," the Hall of Fame Players Foundation, and Robert Royal Foundation. Even nonprofits outside the football world have signed up as well, including the Cancer Research Institute, Childhelp, Thanks USA, Team Type 1 Foundation, and High Fives Foundation.
