MACON, Ga., Sept. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Piedmont Orthopedics | OrthoAtlanta is pleased to welcome Bruce M. Byrd, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement, to its Macon location. A Middle Georgia native, Dr. Byrd joins the practice with a passion for providing advanced orthopedic care to the community he is proud to call home.

Dr. Byrd specializes in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery, with a particular interest in minimally invasive techniques and robotic-assisted joint replacement. His approach combines advanced technology with personalized care to help patients reduce pain, restore mobility and return to the activities they enjoy.

Dr. Byrd takes a collaborative approach to patient care, working closely with each patient to understand their concerns, goals and lifestyle. He believes successful treatment begins with open communication and a shared understanding of each patient's needs, allowing him to develop individualized treatment plans focused on restoring mobility and improving quality of life.

Dr. Byrd completed an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, following his orthopedic surgery residency at Augusta University. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and his undergraduate degree in biological engineering from the University of Georgia. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of both the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
