Pierce Bainbridge Continues Record Growth; Adds Tillman J. Breckenridge, Jeff Newton, and Kristin Darr
NEW YORK, Oct. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Pierce Bainbridge Beck Price & Hecht LLP ("Pierce Bainbridge") continued its record growth this week, adding appellate partner Tillman J. Breckenridge to the firm's Washington, D.C. Office as well as litigation partner Jeff Newton and Kristin Darr as Chief Marketing Officer and Of Counsel to its New York office.

Tillman was previously a partner at Bailey & Glasser LLP and has practiced appellate litigation at the international law firms of Reed Smith LLP and Fulbright & Jaworski LLP, as well as at appellate boutique firm, Greines, Martin, Stein & Richland LLP. He is also an adjunct professor of law at William and Mary Law School, where he directs the Appellate & Supreme Court Clinic. Tillman's appellate successes have spanned the country, from the Supreme Court of the United States to each of the federal courts of appeals to several state supreme courts. His work has also led to numerous honors. This year, he was named to Savoy Magazine's Most Influential Black Lawyers in America, an honorary member of the Order of the Barristers, a Washington, D.C. SuperLawyer, and a member of Virginia's Legal Elite. He also became the youngest fellow ever—and first under 40—in the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.
In addition to his appellate practice, Tillman is a thought leader in his field, speaking on appellate and related topics in front of various audiences. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he argued, and won, his first appeal as a third-year student in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in a case that presented an employment law issue of first impression.

Newton previously practiced at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York and served as a law clerk to judges on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. At Paul, Weiss, Newton litigated as both a plaintiff and defendant in state and federal courts across the country in securities class actions, unfair insurance practice cases, reinsurance coverage matters, civil rights actions, and more. Newton also has significant experience in the arena of white collar and regulatory defense, having represented clients in pre-litigation investigations and negotiations with the Department of Justice, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, the New York Attorney General, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and others.

Kristin Darr joins us most recently from Linklaters LLP where she was leading the firm's marketing and business development efforts for the U.S. practice. Prior to that, she practiced litigation at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP and Steptoe & Johnson LLP as well as at a boutique firm where she represented clients in an array of commercial and enforcement matters. Krissie holds a B.A. from Princeton University, a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, and an M.A. in Bioethics from New York University.
